One Small Step for Care Providers, One Giant Leap for Patient Experience

Instead of merely pointing him towards the elevator, the staff member who greeted Juffre took the time to accompany him on his way there, explaining the hotel’s amenities and reminding him to ask her for any help if needed.

A title change is a small step to take - but as Juffre experienced, the transformation it effects can be profound. Juffre drew a parallel between his experience at the hotel and its application in a healthcare setting, explaining, “When I go around to various health systems and medical offices, I am amazed at what message (both good and bad) certain departments and people’s titles send to patients and their families.” He suggests that creative title changes in healthcare environments are a small yet powerful way for medical facilities to boost their patients’ satisfaction rates.
